I was alarmed by how many people knew them, how deeply this single definition of the grieving process had permeated our cultural consciousness. I think we fail to realize that Allah (swt) does not want to punish us. In fact one can argue that He wants quite the opposite. Through hundreds of acts one can be purified of their sins, through seeking forgiveness and just being thankful we can receive the love and mercy of our Lord. It’s just that simple.
